Graduate-Level Professional Development
Earn up to 4 graduate-level semester units for participating in workshops, conferences or online presentations provided by Positive Discipline Association.
Tuition Cost: $62 per semester unit.
The units offered are post-baccalaureate, graded, graduate-level semester units, provided directly through the University of the Pacific, University College. They are specifically designed to meet the needs of educators for Salary Advancement and Re-certification. These Professional Development Courses are for participants who are NOT pursuing an advanced degree at University of the Pacific. The units are acceptable where local districts approve and applicable to state licensing where authorized. We always encourage that you check with your employer for acceptability of these units. All participants are responsible to determine acceptability of these units for their intended use.

Earn Graduate-Level Units on a Transcript
Prior to registering for the units, it is imperative that you carefully read over all coursework requirements and instructions below. Coursework requirements are different depending on the number of units attempted. If you are seeking to earn only one graduate-level unit, please follow the requirements listed under "Full Course Requirements for 1 Unit." If you are seeking to earn beyond one unit, please follow the requirements listed under "Full Course Requirements for 2 - 4 Units."
IMPORTANT: If you opt to register for only one graduate level unit, you will not be able to earn additional units at a later date for the same in-person or online workshop/conference.
Full Course Requirements for 1 Graduate-Level Unit:
To earn one graduate-level units from the University of the Pacific, you must submit the following documents:
1. Registration form - Click HERE to download registration form.
2. Certificate of completion - Provided by Positive Discipline Associate.
3. Reflection summary - Click HERE for suggested topics to include in your summary.

No further work or documentation is required. Once we receive and review all your documentation, we will send you a confirmation along with information regarding grades and transcripts. Please allow 1-3 business days to receive your confirmation.
Full Course Requirements for 2 - 4 Graduate-Level Units:
The first unit will be granted with no additional work required. Coursework would vary depending on the variable number of units attempted after the first unit. Your coursework requirements will consist of reflection reports and a self-created time log. Please carefully read over the coursework requirements and instructions for this option prior to registering.
Create a PDF or Word Document including a self-created time log documenting the time you have invested attending sessions and implementing Positive Discipline ideas and strategies. Additionally, type a three-page, single-spaced, reflection paper for each unit attempted.
1.Self-Created Time Log:
Creating your own log will give you the freedom of documenting all the effort and time that you have dedicated to the process of completing your coursework requirements. The log must include the hours that you spend implementing or incorporating activities, strategies or other unique ideas inspired by the workshop or conference that you attended. Your log must be specific and include dates, times and accomplishments. For each Graduate-Level Unit, document 15 hours of involvement. All your coursework and participation must be away from professional paid hours.
What type of work can you document in your log?
Hours of attendance at the workshops, time spent integrating new ideas into lesson plans, developing new educational games/activities, typing your reflection papers, creating new PowerPoint presentations, video presentations, worksheets, classroom visuals, classroom assignments and projects, bulletin boards, learning centers, anchor charts, assessments, teacher created books, educational activities/exercises, self evaluation reports, technology related activities, storytelling activities, units of study. Whether you spend time brainstorming, typing papers, watching video resources, researching, reading, typing, writing, constructing visuals or putting together curriculum/rubrics, you are able to document and log all the professional time you have invested amplifying and enriching your professional needs.

*This log is only a sample for you to reference. Please make sure to include 15 hours of involvement for every unit desired.
For each Graduate-Level unit, type a three page, single-spaced, reflection report describing your course experience/outcomes.
2 Graduate-Level Unit = 3 page report
3 Graduate-Level Units= 6 page report
4 Graduate-Level Units = 9 page report

Your coursework can be submitted up to six months from registering and extensions are always granted upon request. The true course ending date that will appear on your transcript will reflect the date in which your coursework was received. Early coursework submission is always encouraged to process grades/transcripts sooner. Please DO NOT submit your coursework as a google doc. Be sure that your completed coursework is saved as a PDF or Word Document. Coursework must include the following documents:
1. Title page - Include your Last & First name, Course Number and Title, Number of Units, last 4 digits of SSN and Course Beginning/Ending Date.
2. Self-created time-log -Fifteen hours per units with dates and accomplishments. Include the total number of hours calculated for all participation.
3. Reflection Reports - Three pages per unit.

Grading and Transcripts
After submitting your coursework, you will receive a confirmation by email notifying you that your coursework is in grading process. Please allow a few business days to receive your confirmation. Grades are submitted to the Registrar's Office at UOP on a weekly basis. Once grades are posted, an unofficial transcript is automatically generated and sent by regular mail to your mailing address. Please expect to wait one to three weeks for your unofficial transcript to arrive to your address. Your unofficial transcript from the University of the Pacific will include instructions to request your Official Transcript. Provisions for rushed or expedited transcripts are also available upon request.
